It’s been some time since anything’s been said here, so I felt I might as well give an update on the progress our translation team has been making.
If you’ve been following our translation efforts since April, you may have noticed that everything pertaining to the main story, sidequests, and all of the other map text has been translated. To put it simply, with the exception of a couple areas of flavor text, Monster Girl Quest: Paradox is pretty much all translated now, and you can play the game from start to finish and even dive into the postgame without running into walls of moonrunes.
However, our work is not quite finished yet.
Some of the more observant players may have noticed parts of the translation to be of questionable quality. And not just the final stretch of the game, but some earlier segments as well that Dargoth had translated. To that end, the more competent and Japanese-versed translators among our team, yom and Upthorn, have been doing thorough playthroughs of the game to catch any awkward or unusual text and polish up the translation and writing to ensure the quality some have come to expect our of this project. This is currently taking priority.
I also mentioned those exceptions of flavor text earlier. To sum it up, here’s what still needs to be translated.
- Labyrinth of Chaos gear enchant effects. A lot of them are already translated, but some still are still in Japanese. There’s also some untranslated boss text. Soul is supposedly working on these. Aside from those, the entire LoC is translated.
- Giving Presents in the Pocket Castle. We’ve actually begun work on this, though progress will be slow until the story translation is done being polished.
- Skill Words (AKA, what characters say in combat upon using skills). This hasn’t been started yet, I imagine this is going to be the last wall we climb before our work is truly complete.
And as far as Dargoth is concerned, he’s still missing-in-action. He’s responded a couple times in one of the MGQ Discords, but until he actually does anything beyond a simple “I’m still here”, I can’t say he’s back.
With all that out of the way, here is the translation patching guide once again!
Step 1: Have the latest version (2.41) of Monster Girl Quest Paradox
This is important: you must be patching a 2.41 game of Paradox. You can tell what version you have by the number that appears on the top-left of the title screen when you run the game. If the version number is anything other than 2.41, you’re playing an outdated game and need to acquire the latest one. If you’ve purchased this game before on DLSite, you can redownload the latest version without having to buy it again.
At this point, your MGQ Paradox folder should only contain the files you extracted from the .zip package it came in–nothing else, not even save files. If you have save files, please move them out of the folder until you have successfully translated your game.
Step 2: Obtain the RPGMakerVXAce Translator
Now we need the program that will allow us to apply the translation, which is the RPGMakerVXAce Translator. You can find it at Dargoth’s Bitbucket repository.
https://bitbucket.org/ArzorX/monster-girl-quest-paradox-translation/src/master/
Click the Downloads tab, and you should find “RpgMakerVXAce Translator 0.10c.7z” among the available downloads. Save it, and extract its contents wherever you like–preferably in a new folder outside of your MGQ Paradox folder.
Step 3: Run the Ytinasni.RpgMaker.GameSelector.exe
There should be a file called “Ytinasni.RpgMaker.GameSelector.exe” among the files you extracted. Run it, and it will prompt you to input the directory of your MGQ Paradox Game.exe file. If you don’t feel like typing it all out, a simple method is to right-click Game.exe, click Properties, copy the file path shown there, and paste it into the prompt. Press Enter, and let the program run its course–during this time, it will generate a bunch of files, most notably a Blobs folder. This might also be a good time to mention you should have some disk space available–as the Blobs folder can grow quite large–mine is up to 10GBs in size, so that should be about how much disk space you should set aside. You’ll need to set aside a few GBs more later once you actually run the translator a few steps later…
As the GameSelector nears the end of its process, a folder called Script should be generated. This is where the game’s text script is located, and what really matters when it comes to translating your game. Once the GameSelector is done, it should tell you to press any key to exit. That means it’s time for the next step, which is…
Step 4: Replace the Japanese scripts with the translated ones
The Script folder contains all of MGQ Paradox’s text inside of it. Right now, all of the scripts are in their orignal Japanese state. The way we translate our game is by replacing all of these Japanese scripts with the translated English scripts from the translation team. You can find all of the translated files at our bitbucket, which is in the following link:
https://bitbucket.org/ArzorX/monster-girl-quest-paradox-translation/src/master/
Click the Downloads tab, and click “Download Repository” to acquire all of the scripts in a single zip package. Once you’ve download the script package, unpack the contents into the Script folder that was generated by the GameSelector. Click Yes whenever asked to replace the existing files.
Step 5: Run the Ytinasni.RpgMaker.Translator.exe
Once you’ve replaced the Japanese scripts with the translated ones, it’s now time to translate the game by running the “Ytinasni.RpgMaker.Translator.exe”. Just run it, and wait a while. It will check all of your scripts first to ensure there are no errors (and there hopefully shouldn’t be any, or our translators have really screwed up), then begin compiling them. You’ll know it’s done when you get the “press any key” line.
Your translated game will be generated in a folder called “out” along where your RPGMakerVXAce Translator is. Look inside it, run Game.exe, and you should now be playing a (mostly) translated copy of Monster Girl Quest Paradox! If you had moved your save files out of the original Japanese Paradox folder, you may now relocate them into your translated Paradox folder to pick up from where you left off.
If you ever want to update your translation later on, you can skip the first three steps and go straight to Step 4, no need to generate another Blobs folder or anything. Just download the latest script files, replace the old ones with the new, and run Ytinasni.RpgMaker.Translator.exe again.
One final note: If you are continuing from a save file, note that your save retains map data from the time you saved your game. Meaning, if you saved in a previously-untranslated location, the NPCs will still be giving you Japanese messages. Don’t panic:all you have to do is exit the map, then re-enter for the game to “reload” the map script with the translated one. Simple as that!

For those who keeps updating your translation frequently, you’ve probably noticed that the Blobs folder can get pretty big, mine was over 10 GB”
As mentioned, the Blobs folder generated by the GameSelector is pretty big, and it gets bigger every time the Translator program is run. We’ve recently discovered that the GameSelector only requires specific files, and we can utilize this for more efficient patching. Just follow these steps:
•Make a new folder to copy some items in. It needs to have the Game.exe and Game.rgss3a files from the Paradox directory, and the game.ini file from the out folder created by the translator program.
•Delete or backup your existing Blobs folder (and backup your saves too, just in case)
•Run the GameSelector.exe and input the directory of the Game.exe from the new folder you created at the prompt.
•Run the Translator.exe; you don’t even need to replace the Script folder at this point unless it’s in need of updating . And that’s it. The Blobs folder is now a more sensible 500-700 MB, you still run the game from the exe in the out folder, and you update the translation the same as usual, though the program should now run a little faster.
Important :
In case you have problems after this tutorial with a black screen when you try watch some h-scenes of the game and you only get a black screen. Don’t worry, it’s not your fault or fault of the program, the problem is that you don’t have part 1 cgs in part 2 and without that you can’t watch part 1 h-scenes in part 2.
To fix that, just copy the graphics folder of part 1 into your part 2 folder and replace easy as that and you will not get anymore black screens.
I know it’s not really a part of the translation process but a note about copying the graphics folder from part 1 after translating the game would be useful to a lot of people. Afaik it’s not officially explained anywhere in English, and many people just don’t know and will come here or the Dargoth’s blog and ask why some h-scenes don’t work.

well that could mean 2 things:
1- You don’t have enough space for the patcher to work, you need at least 6gbs or 8gbs of free space for the patcher to work properly “ERROR: The file is too long. This operation is currently limited to supporting files less than 2 gigabytes in size.” That’s what the error is telling me.
2- You are using a 2.23 version of the game? since that error I remember only happened when you are trying to patch part 1 using the patch for part 2 and they are not compatible. I do remember Dargoth mentioned that was the error he got that’s the reason he hasn’t made an auto patcher.
If you still more detail help you can contact me in my Discord ID: Arzorx #4916 or post more comments here to help you.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I currently have almost 100 GB of free space so it shouldn’t be that problem, and I can also confirm I’m using part 2 which is also at version 2.23, showing on the top left corner in menu.
I can play it just fine without any problem except its all in Japanese language.
Can’t figure it out what’s causing the problem, can’t find anything that helps too when googling except directing me to some coding community in which I have no idea.
Or is there any other way to extract out the files?
Thanks a bunch.

I patched the game successfully with your patch then imported the part 1 CGs from the latest update of part 1 which should be 1.10(?), And I can view the CGs in the monster girl library just fine, along with the defeat h scenes which are fully translated as far as I know, the only issue is that if I choose to view hscenes on some companions through the character section of the library, it doesn’t work, along with some girls not being able to perform their requests despite their affection scores being high enough. You are missing the three files which are needed to genereate the game script for replacement.

Make sure these are extracted from the raw Paradox .zip package.
Or is also possible that you got a bad copy of the game from somewhere.

Recurring problem I’ve had for a while now is that I’m unable to fully translate the game properly despite following the instructions exactly. I attempted this both in 2.35 and 2.40 now with the same results. I’ve followed the instructions and redid it several times to make sure but I get the same result. The game is stuck in a partially translated state where The English text is there but it’s using the Japanese format which causes weird compression issues with the text. Additionally all menu text remains untranslated, and attempting to change jobs crashes the game. It’s essentially unplayable in this state and despite trying this process repeatedly I’ve been unable to figure out how the hell to fix it. I’ve had to make do with the prepackaged version on /vg/ which does have the correct format with the translations and have been able to consistently update the translation to that version as well. I’ve just been unable to do this whole process myself, apparently. Also perhaps I’m missing something but I’ve been unable to find the ‘Ytinasni.RpgMaker.PatchMaker.exe’ mentioned in the instructions in the VX Ace Translator zip. I’ve included some images to give context.

Just notice something, the ‘Quadruple Giga’ skill (obtained by acquiring ‘corrupted hero’ to level 10), in its description it says that it will hit all foes, but when looking up into its details and used it in battle, it only hit a single enemy. Is this what it’s supposed to be? since this skill supposed to be a better version of the ‘Element Spica’ (obtained by acquiring ‘corrupted hero’ to level 6), element spica is meant to target single enemy only. Because of this issue, there is no advantages when using quadruple giga over element spica, since both of them have the same element attributes, same damage formula, and has the same effect.

when i run the game selector it specifies an error that the directory or file cannot
be created system.10.10 exception

Are you sure you are poiting the correct directory and you have enough space for the patcher to work?
LikeLike
Yeah I’m using my usb drive with 50+gb space and using the game directory like the translation
instructions said to do. Or does it not work if i use it on a usb drive?

Maybe is that I never try to patch the game using a usb drive.

I’ll try to make space on my laptop then lol.

After updating to version 2.41, Rigeo is still cursed for me, is anyone still experience this problem as well?

Sorry man, she is still curse in 2.41, they didn’t fix that bug.

Hi. I finally managed to make it work, but there’s a problem. When I try to visualize the scene recollection it doesn’t show anything. I enter it, I see the names of the monster which he had sxual intercourse with but I can’t click (open) them. Also, the cursor only allows me to “visualize” the first name on the list, can’t scroll down onto the others. And when I open the first name (Alice small) it shows 3 options, with “View CG” on the first one, but it’s grey, can’t open it.
Is it just me? Did I do anything wrong?

That’s weird, try this activate the switch in Luka’s room to unlock all the scenes and see if that problem still persist.
LikeLike
Nevermind, it started working by itself a few hours later, after I had visited the Iliasgrand town (or whatever that’s called).
I’ve got another problem tho. When I go into the pocket castle and try to give the girls presents, I can only give them a few of the consumables, even those not all of them. And I’ve seen on the present list that they get more affection from, say, gear items and stuff, but I don’t have those in the menu of items when I’m giving them the gifts.
p.s. if anyone experiences saving issues, such as in error + crash when you try to save, note that you might need to run the game as admin.
LikeLike
You are reading it wrong. That list of gear items is affection rewards. As in, what they give you for raising their affection up to those levels.

Oh and p.s. I didn’t find any switch in Luca’s room, tried that anyway.

For the swicth location it was here https://prnt.sc/1xaofma but well you make it work in the end.
LikeLike
Ooooh, ok. Sorry about that, and thanks so much for the enlightment. It was indeed odd reading that a certain item would reward 2k affection points when you seem to only need 100 max for most of them. Now it all makes sense.
I thought the switch would be in the same room where the diary is. Glad it now works anyway.

Hey!
I find that the GameSelector gets stuck on “Processing CommonEvents”, do you know why this might be / how to fix it?
Thanks!
LikeLike
CommonEvents takes a long time because it’s a big chunk of the process. If the translator isn’t reaching an end state, it’s still working. So keep waiting or close and run it again or start over

I lost the scene option in the library menu after running the Translator on version 2.41. And the unlock all scene option in Luca’s room has also not been translated.Which step did I go wrong?

Ok, first time I see this bug. Let me check and see what I can come on with.

After some talk to my tech guy and told me that yeah, that is indeed what happened since 2.40 trtr blocked the access to the library, so you cannot use it anymore. We think is to make players to use the new h-scene recollection menu. so your game is fine there is nothing wrong with it.

Thank you so much for clarified it. Thought my game was bugged too.
How do you access the recollection menu again btw ?

When you open the in version 2.40 o 2.41 is the option bellow continue.

When i try to use the new H-scene recollection menu i just get … and a black screen fading to black.
Trying to few the cg works and trying to view the scene from the pocket castle also works.

Dunno what are you guys do wrong, I did everything correctly and the scenes works fine for me. Maybe you are missing part 1 CGs, that can explain why you get that black screen.

Thanks for the answer, i managed to figure it out. The new scene recollection is bugged. i had to start from scratch and use the button in luka’s inn to get it working properly.

Hello. Regarding the translation, i have noticed that the winged harpy 100 affection scene is untranslated yet.

Working on that scene, the translators are taking some days to break.
